Idle LimeWire goes idle if I am not using my computer. Can this setting be changed? It never went idle on my PC, but it does on my Mac! |
The new versions do on both. To find out more about it (you can still downld during that time by the way), do a forum search for idle or sleep. sberlin posted about this also which explains how it works. |
Idle I sometimes leave my computer running all day and night to download music. This used to work well until the new idle mode was introduced. Now I have to periodically click the mouse or some other activity to keep Limewire out of the Idle mode. This has reduced Limewire's usefullness for me. I wish you would eliminate Idle in future releases. How long does it take before Limewire enters the Idle mode? |
Why? WHY has the the "idle" shutoff been incorporated into these later versions and what purpose does it serve other than to aggravate users ? I have yet to see a response that adequately explains the thinking behind this alleged "feature" and the benefit it is supposed to serve for Limewire users. I now regret sending in the $19 to upgrade to PRO (of course this was before "idle" reared its ugly head) as the satisfaction level with this product has plummeted. |
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29 Have you searched the forum yet for your answer before posting? It's here. You'll still downld in idle mode. |
Idle mode Where is this info on Idle mode? I haven't found it - please give us the details of this annoying new feature, or tell us where to find it. When does Idle start? You're saying we continue to download files while in Idle mode? Thanks |
To quote sberlin: Ahh -- that Idle status is not related to downloads. That just means LimeWire has noticed you're not using you're computer, so it disconnects from a few Ultrapeers, letting other users connect to the network easier. By releasing those Ultrapeers, LimeWire also needs less bandwidth so that more is available for downloads and/or uploads. This is not a user configurable option because it is good for the network health. Allowing users to change the behaviour at will could be harmful. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...highlight=Idle |
