Default Search Function lost

I'm having issues with my limewire search function. The program initiates the search, the tab status bar moves, but I receive no hits.

Downloading file function works.

I've repaired permissions, and reinstalled 4.2.6 pro to no benefit.

Mac os 10.3.7 installed back in December [it's worked since then.

2 x 500 MHz G4, 1.5 GB RaM, 1T storage.

Have you tried:
-deleting the LW preferences folder in the Finder (although it may seem like it has nothing to do with this)?

-searching for a really popular, say, music file?

I've deleted the prefs file, reinstalled software, and repaired permissions. Still nothing.

I think this may have something to do with my router. I haven't messed with it in 6 months, but it would appear the search isn't hitting the internet.

I also did a search for The Beatles to no avail.

Should have said you had a router.
Click this link and search for your router: it will tell you how to configure it. You can check for any firewalls you may have while you're at it.
Also, are you perhaps trying to connect from a university or work?

Default Still screwed...

I still haven't been able to get the search function to work. I've even removed the router and connected directly to the internet.

I'm feeling a bit cheated paying for Limewire Pro for nil support. Desperate for solutions. Anyone have ideas?

Default me too...

I'm on a mac running 4.0.8 and have the same problem. I've now reloaded limewire with even the new basic version and had no luck getting the search to give any results. Limewire works fine on a dialup AOL connection but I get the problem with my insightbb (cable + router) connection. I tried without the router to with no luck.

Try these suggestions: HERE

By the way who is your ISP provider? A common thread here is some isp's block or filter p2p or specifically LW. Sounds familiar side-fx/symptoms. A recent one to light is Insight. People in the windows section have been having the same problem with Insight. 'IF' this is the case, have a look at the Sticky called "IMPORTANT!!! A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire" in the connections section of the forum.

Default Like a charm

Thanks, worked like a charm.... Insight says nothing is wrong on their end.... I used my aol dialup connection the other day and it worked fine and thats why I started in on the problem again... They told me it was my router and firewall configurations.... but with my firewall off and directly into the cable modem I still had the same problem.... With the proxy set all is gravy again... Thanks
