Yes! As far as Java goes, yes delete all receipts the same way as the 1st. If you return to the receipts folder you'll probably see other java versions listed. (Easy if you have it viewed in LIST mode.) The idea of installing using Standalone installers is that mac installation 'over the net' has been known (relatively common) for unsatisfactory installations. Installing directly from your computer & installing all updates in one hit seems to overcome a lot of hicups of installation. I assure you this has fixed many a person's problem. The reason I refered to it as a pain is due to the installer's size to download. If this doesn't fix your problem, then I'd suggest you redo the java installation & if that doesn't work, it's up to Stief (perhaps setting LW up in a different user account.)

i have only 2 receipts of Java in the receipts folder. I deleted both but still cannot reinstall Java. But I did manage to reinstall 10.3.8 combo. That helps a little. now LW quit after 6 hours. so I suspect that there is still something wrong with my Java. Any other hint on how I can reinstall my Java?

is it possible to transfer my incomplete files to another computer to continue downloading? i have not mess up the Java on my desktop G3 yet

You can yes. What's important is the incomplete folder. It should remain intact. The most important files within are the download.dat & .bak files b/c these are the preferences to all your incomplete downlds. Keep these within that folder & you should be able to continue them on the G3. So just the incomplete folder is all you need to copy across. A fresh installation of LW & replace the new incomplete folder with the one from your other computer but only do this swapping whilst LW is closed!
