Default sharing iTunes library...how?

Using OS 10.3, iTunes 4.7 and Limewire 4.8

I would like to share my Itunes library but can't figure out how.

Also, what's the diff in the "saved" as well as "sharing" folder....am I not filling up my harddrive with duplicate files?

If you have iTunes set to import directly from LW then you'll be getting duplicate files. One in the shared folder & one in iTunes. The Saved Files folder & the Shared folder are the same thing. Just that not everybody chooses to share their shared folder. So thus they can't access it from the library window. So with the now default Saved Files folder, this folder is easily accessible. (The Saved Files folder is not shared to other people.)

If you're refering to sharing your iTunes library with other LW users then simple. Just Go to LW'ls Prefs>Sharing & press the add button & direct it to the iTunes music folder. Select it & press apply. The other daap sharing is in regards to sharing on a lan.

To get songs into iTunes see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=35621

I ask:
If I understood the first paragraph correctly, since I'm sharing my entire iTunes library, I don't need the Sharing/Saved folders? I can delete what is in them so I don't have duplicate files?

I finally found the "add" button...how deep do I go into iTunes to select which folder?

That's right about the shared folder unless you downld more than just music. I tend to use those files for backup ... but I think most people just delete the music in the shared folder. WARNING: Not all music is always imported into iTunes. iTunes cannot import Ogg vorbis mp3 format or rm format for example. So just keep an eye on it & double-check. That's why I have a backup player called Audion (which is now free) which will play & convert more formats: http://www.panic.com/audion/

You go as deep into iTunes as you want to. Remember you have these choices 1. share the entire iTunes library. 2. Select & share particular artists. or 3. Select particular albums to share.

eg: For me it's like HDD Partition>iTunes Music>Artist>Album. I share the entire library but not everybody does that & is your opinion. (Don't forget to press apply button after adding. Another way you can add is to go to LW's Library window, go to menu File>Add folder to share. Easy as that. Need to press refresh button for LW to immediately account for the new additions.)

Okay...I understand "shared" I think....

I want to share the entire library but didn't know if add Music folder, iTunes folder, or each individual folder was the way to go???? So one more time, to share the entire library, add each folder or will "music" folder take care of it?

Thanks for your time! -L

You can just add the folder above the artist folder level. So that might be called iTunes music library. Selecting that folder will include all folders & files within (or underneath it as they say in the folder hierachy.) See this for an example: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=34825
