![]() This is frustrating, I'm on an OSX machine (Powerbook, OS X 10.3.7) to be precise. And I have a 2.5 Mbps DSL connection, unfortuantly however it seems to be wasted on limewire, I've gone back through this forum and searched but haven't found anything that would help the problem. I can connect fine to limewire, in fact I've got the blue "turbo charged" quality bar rating...so thats spiffy. Unfortuantly when I go to download files..I get 1, 2...MAYBE 6k a second if I'm lucky. I've got Limewire setup up correct I think, I only download from 4-5 star people. I don't know what else could be causing this slow download speeds. I should be getting much higher speeds than what I had when I was on dialup many moons ago. Please help! |

![]() Have a look at the purge incomplete post here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...359#post130359 Choose sources to downld that have 3 or 4 star quality which means a greater chance for a successful connection. Also choose those with many under the # column. Some hints: Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time. A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...028#post116028 |

![]() Yeah I saw those links when I did a search through this forum (Didn't want to be one of THOSE posters) The suggestions didn't work, and some of them were just commen sense. *shrugs* I've got the laptop hooked directly to the line, no routers or anything. |

![]() Hi Winterface, Just out of curiosity, when you download, what's the "quality" of the connection from the source ? If the computer from which youre downloading is hooked up to a 56k modem, I guess you can't expect "turbo charged" from it. I have a 512k download speed, and sometimes I manage up to 60 kliks/sec. when the donner is hooked up as T3. Otherwise, with dsl I average around 10 to 15, and if it's modem, then it is more or less 1 to 4... |

![]() anyone using airport extreme with limewire must allow port 6346 through by going to: utilities>airport admin>configure>portmapping (im using a static ip) also allow 6346 in systemprefs>sharing>firewall last but most important: in limewire prefs, select advanced>firewall>and select manual port forward (enter 6346) after i did this i got results and speeds that blew my damn haed off...good luck |
