Wow Super speed

I was just d/l some video, and my download speed spiked up to 198KB/s and stayed there for about 2 mins.!!!!!
Amazing as my connection is 600/100???

How can that be?

Hi again

last time your speeds checked out at
Test Scores - 512/94 (KB/s, I presume)

So that means your connections is probably 6000/100, not 600/100 (bps, I presume)

Time to check your speeds again ;)

Hey stief,
well, I checked and my ISP says my pack is 600/100 kbps - I just retested and it came up 564/96 kbps....
weird
Its been happening quite a bit recently... even when I watch the graph in Statistics, there are many spikes up past 120.... the number also ticks to 120/130/140....

Well, I'm really confused now. kilo BYTES are 8 times larger than kiloBITS, and LimeIWre measures transfers in kiloBYTES (KB/s).

If you are getting 200 KB/s transfer rates, you'd need an 1600 kbps (kilobit) connection from your ISP.

Anyway, LW will show peaks larger than realistic because of the way it averages the results.

Whatever, glad you're happy with the speeds you are getting.

Cheers

btw--here's what http://www.broadbandreports.com/speedtests shows me

Your download speed : 3507634 bps, or 3425 kbps.
A 428.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 445732 bps, or 435 kbps
youmight be interested in the download speeds you get from http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml I had a really good tranfer from there today, supposedly better than I should

Yeah, I test there as well, its the site you guys suggested when i had my last problem.

My explanation for this is that you must be really close to the server center (or whatever it is called): in such cases, for ADSL and Cable it possible to witness speeds above (a little above) the one you are paying for.

Ahhh
That must be it....

Thanks
