![]() Backstory: I use a Mac G4, running MacOSX 10.4. I am using Limewire Pro 4.8.1 I have just recently converted from dialup to cable internet, I share this with one other machine. Limewire has been working fine on dialup (slowly, but fine). Since the cable happened it's been having a "Fair" connection, or telling me it's connecting but really isn't. It's as though the speed of my Limewire has become inversely proportional to the speed of my network. Download speed fluctuates like the Dow Jones index. Dismayed am I. Suggestions would be appreciated. J42 |

![]() When sharing with another machine, the network connections are much more difficult. I'm assuming you didn't share the modem connection, so that might explain the difference. The easiest way to check would be to connect the cablemodem directly to your machine, with a new Apple Menu->Location setting. Try that and see if the situation improves. If not, then check with your ISP that they allow filesharing through the Gnutella network on port 6346. Cheers |
