These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. slow downloads hi, i used to have a lot of problems when running 10.3.8. limewire would crash all the time and i have to fix my java almost every other day. the whole situation end up causing the HD on my brand new laptop to die. with a new HD put in, everything newly installed, running 10.3.9, limewire couldn't run any smoother. well, until yesterday. i have read the tips given, to always clean up my download queue and the incomplete folders. i tried my best to keep my limewire clean and lean. but yesterday, something went wrong and it started to slow slow down. even tho it showed that it is downloading from say, 6 hosts, it will still be going no more than 1KB/s. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? i tried deleting more and more, even those that are waiting, but only downloaded a small percentage, all tossed away. reduced the number of downloads that takes place at the same time. nothing helps. do i have to deal with the java issue on the computer again? i hope not. thanks for your help! |

I'm having the same trouble, and I know its not my connection. The other day I d/l a 190 Mb file using Speed Download and it took 3 hours (give or take). The download speed was around 14 kbps, and with LW I suffer the 0-4 kbps if I am lucky... Weird indeed... |

I have just started using Lime wire. I have tried to download the user guide, but when I start it in adobie 5.0, I get an error message that the .PDF is asking for too many colors. When I try to start it in adobie 6.0, I get an error message that there is a bad command. I belive the user guide will tell me what to do about my slow downloads. I have cleared out the download list, cleared the incomplete list, removed the few files that I have spent a very long time downloading. Uninstalled Lime wire, then reinstalled. I pick 1 file that has many copies and a T1 speed, I get 1K downloads, that die before they are finished. I'm about to give up on Lime wire. I would like to have a copie of the user guide, and any help that anyone can give me. |

Hello guys... I was using LimeWire with Windows XP actively maybe Oct-Dec '04. The download speeds were amazing... you could hit more than 50kBps. Stopped using computers since (lets say I was just unplugged) And now I'm back in bussiness, but with a Mac this time... Hahaha... To my surprise (disappointed, and confused) it's really slow downloading! Right now, I am downloading from 8 hosts... with a speed of 1kBps. Any explanations on what is going on? I did disable my OS X firewall. Hope this "plague" will somehow just disappear... |

I have entered a search "slow downloads" and there came up a few replies, one says it might be a firewall problem, other says ISP, others say connection. Yet, I noticed many who have this problem happen to them like less than a week ago. As for me I had LW for about 2 months now and it was working miracles for me. But last week, I either get no hosts or download of 1 kb/s, could there be a problem with LW itself ha???? |

Do this test to help determine if your firewall is on or off or configured properly: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If False then something is at least partially blocking LW. Be that a softw firewall or a modem/router. You can always close LW & reopen if you feel the connections aren't behaving very well. Also browsing the hosts, or re-searching can find more sources or liven them up. If you have the search results up then you can stop it, then re-select to downld. All these things can help to freshen up downld speeds. More tips here: See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) As far as LW crashing on OSX, well OSX's Java is stuck at 1.4.2 which is not highly efficient. Java 1.5 has only become available for OS 10.4.x users. Hmph! Typical apple! But some tips to stop LW crashing are: close windows you don't need open (eg: connection & library windows), hide LW in the dock when not in front of comp, set uplds & downlds to auto-clear, close off very old search results, don't resume too many files at once, reduce shared/incomplete files or both, reduce upld & downld speeds, disable ultrapeer capabilities. |
