Default My modem shows crazy activity when LW isn't doing anything.

To stop this I have to "restore defaults" and then restart LW. After half an hour my modem starts
showing uploading even though LW is'nt doing that. This slows everything down.
What is happening?

Qaz, welcome on this DiscussionBoard.

(1) could you start the ActivityMonitor (Applications/Utilities) and give us which process is running in background
(2) Is your modem an USB one ? If yes, is your driver up-to-date ?
(3) In PreferenceSysteme/Update, does the mac looks automatically for updates ?
(4) last but not least, could you give us more details on your machine/os/plugin devices ?
Phil

Wow, man. This is a new territory for me.
When I open the ActivityMonitor a lot of things are happening in there. I don't know what you mean by background.
My modem is not an USB, I think.
My Mac (eMac 1.25 Ghz G4) does look for updates.

Are you absolutely sure you aren't uploading anything?.
Anyway, even if you aren't acting as an Ultrapeer, messages keep being sent to and from your comp...

No, I am not down/uploading anything.
It started doing that again. Slows down whole computer.
When I look in the CPU window in Activity Monitor it's all yellow.
I restarted the LW without restoring defaults
and it stats doing it again.
75 threads, whatever that meens.
