Cannot Play WMV files
 

I have the correct player and play wmv files from other sources. After I download a wmv file I click on preview, or I go to library and click on launch. Either way i get the same problem. Windows Media Player opens but then I get a message saying that the path or the file name is not correct.

WHo the heck who uses OSX would want to view wmv files hahaha :o :p :rolleyes: Ok, so QT can't play them & wmp always gives errors. So try out either VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) or see its abilities here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

Or try MPlayer http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/ which is about the same (personal preference!)

Thanks for the quick response. I downloaded both players but neither work. When I try to use VLC I get this message: main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

The other player just gives a farting noise (no kidding).

There are odd wmv files that the other 2 cannot play. Particularly those that have DRM licence links. Believe me, these files are not worth bothering with! In future might I suggest you aim for mpeg or avi. These are arguably the 2 best formats & less chance of spam being included!

And there will be a lot less farts during playback! lol ;) :D :D :D
