no search works anymore No search works, nothing. How do I get it to work again? I might have been messing with the Options beforehand. But I did a Restore Defaults, I even did a re-install of Limewire, my internet service works fine, but still no search results. Any help?? Thanks. I'm on Limewire Pro 4.8.1, eMac 1.42, 10.4.2 OSX. |
Whilst LW is closed, delete your LW preferences found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire I guess there's a possibility your isp provider has started using a p2p filter like sandvine or other & may be targetting everyone or selected users that they're aware use p2p sharing. But we don't know that yet. Who is your isp by the way? |
OK, so I did that (moved to Trash everything in that folder), then restarted Limewire. Now, it crashes a couple seconds after it opens, soon after it finishes showing the connection status in lower left corner of window (It showed "Quality: Connecting, Sharing: 4/ 960) and then crashes. I restarted my Mac but same thing. Was I supposed to throw away everything in Preferences? |
Hmm that's unexpected! I don't know why that should happen. There are some mac maintenance things you can run thru: 1. SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions 2. Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption If still problems then trash the program folder & re-install. If still problems, try the beta. Which version of Java are you using by the way; 1.4.2 or 1.5? Did you do anything to the system lately such as updates? |
Ok, well the crash stopped happening, all by itself. But I still can't get any results whatsoever. The only updates are the Software Updates from Apple. The Quality status says "TurboCharged". |
Next thing I tried was to download the beta Limewire 4.9.7. The first search I did after instaling it, it worked beautifully! But after that, no search worked at all, not even the same search that worked the first time!! I did not change a thing; didn't Quit and start up again or anything. Only the first search worked, and then nothing. What gives???? |
BTW, Comcast is my isp. |
