It Don't Work !!
 

Mac G5 Mac O.S. 10.3.9./10.2.8
I partitioned my HD as above.
The LimeWire 4.9.11(12) downloaded
and works fine on Mac O.S. 10.2.8, However,
on 10.3.9 it gets to the loading html part
and then abruptly quits. I have tried EVERY suggestion shown here and on Version Tracker to no avail. I went so far that I lost the whole Mac OS 10.3.9, and had to reinstall everything from "Jaguar"and up. With that I also had to reinstall at least 6 applications that were also lost.
Apple refuses to assist with this problem with the exception of the Java fix.(Which didn't work either) Trying to contact LimeWire
directly is impossible unless you go Pro, and from what I've read Pro users are having the same problem(s).
If ANYONE HAS A SURE FIX PLEASE LET ME KNOW, SINCE I AM AT MY WITS END.
I am unable to get "Tiger" 10.4 since I would have to remove 10.2.8 and replaced it with 10.4. I DON'T WANT TO LOSE LIMEWIRE, AND IF I DID GO TO "Tiger", BYE BYE LIMEWIRE.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO TRY (ALMOST) ANYTHING, AS LONG AS IT WON'T CRASH MY SYSTEM AGAIN.

It's generally due to Java. 10.3.9 issues (click on link) And also try deleting your LW preferences found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

I also run 2 mac osx's & os 9 on my comp. I've never had the same issues though. I presume you have the 2nd OSX on a different HDD or partition right?! I think that's advisable.

I tried again. It still just goes so far and quits. It just won't open.
To answer you question... My HD is Patitioned and I have 10.3.9 on one and 10.2.8 on the other.
As I stated before LW works fine on 10.2.8.
but I cannot upgrade to OS 10.4 without re- formatting 10.2.8. and losing LW completely.
It must be something else.

This might not make any difference but, try Jum's build which is like a beta of a beta: http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/

But I suspect the issue is with the java so it probably won't make any difference. Worth trying though.

The other option I can think of to solve your problem is a PIA. It means downlding the 10.3.9 standalone installer. Then re-installing the OS. But this is a very large downld!

I downloaded 4.9.11 (newest one, nothing higher)
and it works fine with one exception....
It will not allow me to play the song on the LW site. I have to go to itunes Library to play it.
No Problem tho. The site should be posted on Ver. Tracker also.
