I upgraded to Pro version, now limewire doesn't work.

I've been using limewire for the past year with no problems. I upgraded to limewire pro 4.9.11 Pro this morning, now I can't get anything to download. Limewire shows that I have turbo-charged connection, I get good searches, but when I click to download a song, nothing happens. In the download section on the bottom none of the icons are in color. They are all in grey.

I'm running MacOSX 10.2.8. I upgraded to limewire pro 4.9.11 Pro. My java verision is 1.4.1_01. I have a Mac G4 with 512 MB memory, I have a dsl connection with earthlink. I have a wireless connection to my gateway solo 5300 laptop using dlinks wireless router DI-624.

I don't know much about firewalls. I went to my system preferences to file sharing and clicked on firewalls. Limeware is showing and I clicked on it and tried my limewire again. I changed back the file sharing preferences nothing still works. Now I'm confused to how my firewalls are to be set up.

Can someone give me help to get this limewire working again? I would really appreciate it

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false then I have a suspicion you might need to do port forwarding. AFAIK D-Links don't have UPnP ability.

If that's the case then the steps to port forwarding need to be done in this order:
1. Set up a static ip (you can get tips how to do this for Mac OSX in the thread link in point 3 below.)
2. Forward a Port (use 6346) http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm (Do one for each of TCP & UDP)
3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

BTW the forum doesn't normally approve of email addresses as user names. We may need to set you up with a different user name. You should send me a pm regarding a prefered forum username.

Bug Test

Hi. . .I did the bug test and it was true. What do need I need to do next?
I thought it may help if I showed you what my limewire screen looks like. See the icons down at the bottom of the screen are grey. Why is that?

The Downld function icons are grey because you're not downlding anything (I suspect.)

Go to your LW preferences (under the Limewire name at top-left on menu bar) & go to Downloads & make sure the no. of maximum downlds is set to at least one or more. And under Saving section, make days to keep incomplete files to 999 or something.

In fact, it might even be better to delete the LW preferences. It's often a good idea to delete your prefs if you change over to Pro. So whilst LW is closed (LW must be closed), delete the LW preferences found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

This will mean however that next time you open LW, you'll need to set all your options again so it might be wise to make a note of them before you do this. Post back if you still have problems.

Oh I think I may have just woken up to what your problem might be. Yes deleting the LW preferences will fix it, at least temporarily. But something you should be aware of is this: Revert Popups to Default For mac osx that means going to LW Prefs>View>Popups & reverting to default. Be careful if you press No to the downlding of licenced files, if you tick the option to always use that answer then everytime you try to downld a file which may have a licencing query about it, it won't downld. So keep that in mind for future! Hope that solves your problem! ;) :)

It works!

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me with Limewire. Deleting my preferences and the link about the popup message did the trick!
