Default re: quick time not working

Hi Lew,
I am having the same problem with my quick time player. With "wmv" video file types it doesn't respond at all when I click "launch".
With the "avi" video/movie file type it responds and plays but there is no sound or video. Sometimes a pop-up says there is information missing and it probably will have problems, which it then does. Sometimes it says something like there is no compressor on quicktime and that it won't work.
Only "mov" and "mpg" file types have worked so far in watching video clips.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me to be able to watch movie and video? should I download another viewer software? Which one?
Thanks.

I would recommend VLC for OSX previewing. VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) But i use QT for all mpg formats since I already have mpeg 1-4 plug-ins for QT, & I use VLC for everything else. Don't forget to update to 3rd party plug-ins on the update page.

Also, DivX, - XviD, - 3ivx , etc.

Hi,
That works fine for me, thanks .
Only I can't play wmp files ,they need ".... V7 " ,
Probably only in WMP 10.
Mac OXS has WMP 9.

Greetings. Ron.
