Source Codes & quicker downloads I'm new to this form of help so please forgive me. What are Source Codes and what are they for? Do they help the performance of LW? And... What do I have to do make downloads faster with LWPro? I have DSL/MacOSX-Tiger and though LWPro works fine, thank gawd, but downloads seem to take forever and varity of downloads seem to always be the same, and "what's new" is very little. Any suggestions on how to make the most with LWPro? "Lord of the Rings" seems to have a great vast knowledge especially in the Mac world so if can you hear me, can you or anyone help me? Feedback is GREATLY appreciated! G- thanks for the open forums so that we can help one another! |
I'm not sure what you mean by source codes. See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) And I mean all the off-shoot links, there's a lot of advice within there to help. (I hope you find this beneficial!) ;) :) |
I think sourse codes are technical stuff for the way limewire is built. Way over my head... What's new is a curious beast and I'm not sure it has much use except for the newcomer who can use it to get a vague idea.... and it is vague, of what is out there without performing any specific search ...perhaps it should be renamed trainer search :) LOTR has pointed you in the right direction for plenty of information enjoy |
Your sourse code question intrigued me ... google gave me http://www.opensource.org/ which looks like interesting reading |
Source Codes & quicker downloads First I would like to thank LOTR for hearing my cry for help, and HOBO positive reinforcement and above and beyond the call of duty for added info. Sources codes is a tech thing, (just learned that p2p is peer-to-peer) a flashing link at the bottom of the LimeWire's downloading program box states "click here to support open source and open protocols" and "click here to turbo charge with source codes" but it's greek to me. I thought maybe it was something I could do to help my LW be more effective. Oh well, I'll have to make some time to look deeper per LOTR advice and link provided by HOBO. BTW, you'all ROCK! Another question: I'm becoming bilingual via a new Mac and my history is with windows. I get frustrated with my ibook G4 because I'm still learning (and I'm happy) but could you advise me to sites (whatever) that have good tutorials, step-by-step (I'm going to use the blonde card on this one) instructions on how to make the most of my Mac? apple.com doesn't really help unless I pay $75 for a support phone call, good grief, and sometimes I have comprehension issues. So I'm looking for a helpful Mac sites that will guide me/assist me in my growth. OR if someone would like to be my mentor......? In any case, come this week I'll have better feedback but I wanted to make sure I gave a sincere and humble thank you to my mac/apple family. :D |
You could send me, et voilà, Stief, ultracross a PM & we'd be happy to help if we know. lol :D There's mac osx files you can downld & they're not copyright. At least the 1st isn't: 1. macos tips and tricks; 2. OS X Bible.pdf; 3. Inside_Mac_OS_X.pdf This will give you a start. I came from OS 7-9 & was was rather daunted by the idea of OSX which seemed so different. (I ignore my earlier times on c/ps, DOS & so forth. lol :D Even Unix/Xenix, etc.) |
Hey Mr. Wonderful (AKA: LOTR) lol what you wrote was greek too me :) I did not understand one bit of what you wrote LOL! what is "et voilą, Stief, ultracross a PM" and how do I access "1. macos tips and tricks; 2. OS X Bible.pdf; 3. Inside_Mac_OS_X.pdf"? Did I mention I was blonde too?;) I tried to email you but I guess Lords don't want to get direct email:p But with your vast knowledge I guess all the emails would become overwhelming! Self elected president of your fan club, Susann :D |
wow u sound fearless lol :D The names I mentioned are experienced members of the forum who you could send a PM (personal message) to. The files I mentioned are ones you can search for to give you assistance in understanding OSX. http://bestsmileys.com/peeping/1.gif http://bestsmileys.com/panic/1.gif |
Ahhh... Roger that Houston! Fabulous! Yeah, Fearless is pretty much my middle name but I cut thru a lot of BS to obtain a goal and I think that's a good thing. There are two things I hate the most and that's to waste time and waste money! And being fearless means I'm not wasting time!;) Okay I'll make note of those golden contact names, thanks for drawing the picture for me :D Okay wise one, when I do a search for those items you listed, can or should I use Google? And do I just type what you listed just as you wrote? Or is there a specific site I should go to? I'm soooooo sorry but can you draw me another picture? Thanks for making this fun for me and I hope not too painful for you! Fear nothing but fear it self. Do not allow fear to control your life. Do not allow fear to hold you back. To be fearless is to live life without regret. Fearlessness is not to be mistaken for stupidity:D The list goes on...LOL! |

Well thank you my Lord, and I must agree with you because you forgot to enclude with your reply about how to "search" for those topics :P Seriously, thank you. I hope this okay to "chat" so loosely on this site. Hey how did you enclude those really neat'o smiley graphincs? In addition I would like to extend a special invitation to to view our Mutal Admiration Soceity So. CA Chapter web page because.... well you'll see. You fit perfectly :D xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (that's okay I think) it's not tacky, spam-scam-ish, adult-ish. Just kindness. Okay back to business, read my previous reply and please teach me how to search for those much needed topics, pretty please :D update: I just saw in huge bold red letter about links etc. are a no-no. Soooooooo sorry. Live and you learn. Well dude, if you want to know more I'm email-able. :o |
I can't remember how I originaly got a hold of them as I've had them a while but try these suggestions as search criteria within LW (look for PDF's in particular): 1. mac osx tips 2. mac osx 3. macosx 4. mac osx.pdf 5. macosx.pdf 6. mac osx bible I'm sure you get the general idea. I got reasonable results with all of those. At least one good result from each! |
Wonderful, thanks for drawing another picture for me and for all your information to help us who are new to these forums, blonde :D and mac/apple. Your an asset to Gnutella and to our community. Keep an eye of me, within a couple weeks I hope to giving such quality advise and my mentors have taught me :D I'll make sure to post my findings after my research. Happy FRIDAY! |
