limewire won't start up on my mac
 

Hi,
I have a dual usb i-book, os X, panther. I have used limewire on my computer before. Suddenly it won't start up any longer.
Can anyone give me advice please?

1. Try deleting your LW preferences whilst LW is CLOSED. LW preferences are found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

2. SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions OR/& Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption

3. OR re-install the Java using the standalone offline installer: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html If it won't let you then double-click the hard-drive icon, open the Library, open the Receipts folder & find Java 1.4.2_Update2.pkg & delete it & try again. eg: Receipts folder sample image

it worked!
 

Thanks a lot. First I erased the preferences-list as you recommended. Wasn't enough. But the Java upgrade did it. Seems like the problem came from my recent osx-upgrade. I installed the latest version of panther, but didn't upgrade java.
My LW starts up again. You've been very helpful :-)
