Default LW 4.9.37 keeps crashing

I'm on a Mac OSX 10.4.3 and my limewire keeps crashing seconds after loading up... the Crash Report reads as follows:

Command: LimeWire
Path: /Applications/LimeWire/LimeWire.app/Contents/MacOS/LimeWire
Parent: WindowServer [63]

Version: 4.9.37 (LimeWire 4.9.37)

PID: 19700
Thread: 0

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000

And it says that Thread 0 crashed.

Am I missing something? What do I do?

Wells, sixfingers, before going further, could you apply the following basic maintenance tips ?

Close all the running applications (except the Finder)
(1) repair permissions
(must be admin)
Launch Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility
On the left pane, select the drive
On the right, select the First Aid (or SOS) tab
Then click on repair permissions and let run; don not worry about messages like " new permissions...."
Quit DiskUtility
Shutdown and reboot

(2) could also download Macjanitor
http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_...acjanitor.html
and use it to run the maintenance scripts
The maintenance scripts are Unix scripts which are automatically ran on your
Mac between 02Am and 04 am..if your Mac is on at this moment.
I can advice you to run, through Macjanitor, the daily script each day, the week script each week, ..and so

Now, if you migrate form 10.4.2 to 10.4.3 throught the simple 10.4.3 incremental update, download the 10.4.3 combo update
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...1043combo.html
and re-apply it over your existing 10.4.3. After the reboot, please repair permissions again

So now post back the results

Regards
Philippe

Exclamation

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention the Java 1.5 problem (installed by 10.4.3) as described here:

Thanks for the help. I repair my permissions constantly, so that was already taken care of. I used MacJanitor and updated to the combo. I also switch the Java...

same problem, only now, it takes about 8 seconds to crash instead of 5. I've heard (unfounded) rumors that the new iTunes could be the reason, but I highly doubt that.

Same problem here, crashes upon start; even a freshly downloaded version with new prefs...

Interestingly I did the non combo update from 10.4.2 to 10.4.3; but the combo update did not seem to help the previous user.

I've repaired perms and rebooted, no luck.

Stumped as to the cause.

Exclamation Still having problems

haven't heard back from philippe yet... but I just found out something pretty interesting. My roommate has a user account on my laptop as well, mine's the administrator of course, and her's has very limited freedoms given that she's a windows user who has no clue how to operate a mac. Basically, she can check her mail, listen to iTunes, and use LimeWire, and that's it. This morning, she definitely was using LimeWire with no problems. When I switched back to my account and opened LimeWire, it crashed.

Now I'm confused....

HELP!

Even weirder for me; Limewire started to work fine again; then after I rebooted for some reason it began to crash again. I can't figure out what I did to make it work again tho.....it may be that you have to repeatedly trash the prefs....??
