Default Intel Core Duo iMac not Compatible with LimeWire

I know there have been several messages regarding this, so I am sorry for that. Like many others, I have just purchased the new iMac Intel Core Duo and it is not working with LimeWire. It won't even let me open it up! What is the solution to this if any?! I hope it won't be complicated... I'm going crazy not being able to download things and limewire's pretty good. Thanks!

The issue may not necessarily be the newer apple computers. Try these things:

1. Try reinstalling your Java using the "Offline" Java installer. I think the most recent one for Tiger is this one: Java 1.4.2 for Tiger (click on link) If it doesn't let you install it because it says it's already installed or the installer give a "Null" error, then go to the Receipts folder & delete the last Java package. See similar example here (this example is for Panther so the version will be different): Receipts folder sample image
* * * However, check which version of Java you have. IF you're using Java 1.5, then you should get this installer Java 1.5 Standalone installer Also if you have Java 1.5, go to your Utilities folder & open the Java utility. Set it to allow LW to use it. See notes about this here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301073

2. Normally after installing new software or updates including system updates, you should repair permissions. Reboot your comp whilst holding down the SHIFT key until you see the window saying Booting into Safe mode or similar message. Then after it's finished booting, go to the Utilities folder, open Disk Utility & Repair Permissions. Then reboot back into normal mode.

Tell us if these things make any difference.

Edit: Ok I hadn't seen this thread. Perhaps you hadn't either but please try the 2 suggestions above anyway. iMac Intel Core-Duo Limewire Does Not Open?!?!?!

Default Beta Version 4.10.5

When I click the beta link, it downloads 4.10.3

Any idea where 4.10.5 is?

I downloaded LW 4.10.5 BASIC off the website today at 5:15 PM in order to test it on OS X 10.3 w/ Java 1.4.2.

Just now, I re-downloaded and installed 4.10.5 from the website.

You need to go to the LimeWire BASIC (or PRO if you are a pro customer) download page. Toward the bottom of the BASIC download page is a grey button that will bring you to the BASIC BETA download page. From this final page, there is a link to the BETA.

I hope this helps.

Default LimeWire Beta still doesn't work

Even the newest version of LimeWire...4.1.5 or whatever, doesn't work with the new Intel iMac. The program actually downloads, but when you attempt to open it, it gets all the way to the "Search" screen (The screen that appears after it asks you to Upgrade to LimeWire PRO) of LimeWire, but shuts down. This really needs to be fixed...

The "newest version of LimeWire" in fact does not work on an Intel iMac. You need to get the BETA (prototype) version. If you download "the latest", you get 4.10.3. My best guess is that within a few days we'll build and release a production version that runs on the Intel iMacs.

What you're seeing as the "newest version" is actually several versions old. Once we like one of our prototypes, we make what's called a beta build. People can download the beta and play around with the new features. Sometimes people discover bugs in the beta, or the beta testers have good suggestions for small tweaks. It's this prototype version that has the "fat" libraries for PPC and i386 Mac OS X.

Thanks for checking kmag.
Perhaps the jum build will work until LW can restore the links to the beta? Jum's build might still be based on the pre-release beta http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/LimeWire.html

otherwise, I'll share yesterday's release. Folks can search for "LimeWireOSX4.10.5 BETA.dmg" or message me and I'll send the magnet link.
