Angry limeware now will not open

I am operating OS X 10.3.9. I have been successfully using Limewire Basic for at least a year on this same system. Now, all of a sudden, Limewire will not open. I did download a few of Apple's newest software upgrades (just a few of the ones that were already operating on this system). One of the upgrades, which was done separately, was the newest iTunes 6. A day before that Limewire was smooth. Could the latest iTunes block out Limewire in order to get me to purchase their music? I did run the test that has been suggested, it worked. I did look at my firewall settings and changed them, no luck. Should I just trash the limewire already there and reinstall? And if I do this, will I lose my library? These files will still be in the Shared folder on my hard drive, right? Please help!
