firewall

help!!!!I have mac os 10.3.9 and keep getting an alert that there is a firewall blocking my downloads. The brick wall shows on the globe in the bottom left corner but I do not know how to get rid of this firewall. HELP!!!!

LW 4.9 introduced an auto firewall detector. If you don't have your OSX firewall turned on, then the issue is most likely your modem/router. Personally I needed to manually port forward mine. But the newer ones have UPnP but some need to be enabled. See Connection problems? Check here first! But also check to see if you have your OSX firewall turned on. If yes, then you'll need to make an exception for LW.

Hey.
I have OS X but not 10.4, so I can't access airport admin utility to update base stations. the NAT port mapping doesn't appear.

any suggestions otherwise??

thanks!

That's odd, did you check for a firmware upgrade? About half-way down the page there's some http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/; AirPort Express Firmware Update 5.7 & 6.3; also compatible with 10.3.9. However if you have less than OS 10.3 then see below.

Otherwise, if you can't get this ability, then perhaps manual port forwarding would be the best way to go. Check my previous link about this.

wow! thanks for such a prompt response.
I am not extemely confident I know where everything is on my mac, being new with it( 1 year).
When I have selected airport base stations , there isn't any choices or selection to be made as a list or anything.

I am not able to find anywhere to update firmware, where do i veiw my operating system number? sorry for the lame question.
I think it's 10.2.7, does that make sense?
