zip files Help needed for a somewhat newbee!!!!! I am on a G5 iMac using 10.4.5. I just dowloaded **** pro which is in a zip file. I highlighted osx when searching. When I opened the file it contianed two files one with the sn and the other containg the installer. The installer file is an .exe file. I tried opening this but got a message from zipit that for several reasons the file could not be opened. This has also happened with several other osx programs I have downloaded from limewire in zip format. I contacted the zipit guys and was told that .exe files are for PC. Can anyone confirm this or tell me how to open the .exe files? If the zipit guys are conrrect why are the .exe files listed under osx? Regards and thanks to any or all that can help. Talk of piracy is strictly forbidden on this forum. |
exe files are strictly windows only. What you need to look for are dmg & sit files. If there's mac files on someone's pc, then they'll put within the filename something like "for mac". So in general ignore exe files & zip files. A clue, search .dmg or .sit in your searches & see what you get. Else, put the filename - dmg for example. BTW you obviously haven't read the forum rules. We don't want to know specific details of what you downld if it's piracy. This is NOT a piracy forum. If it were, it would have been forced to close down years ago as many others have been.
