Default Firewall problems with OSX 10.4.2

I followed the directions of Limewire's support page about connecting with OSX (go to firewall preferences, select "new" and choose the gnutella/limewire port) but that port doesn't show up in the pull down menu. How do I choose the port?

Default Tiger's firewall

See OSX Firewall settings for Tiger but also ensure your modem/router has UPnP enabled. If it doesn't support UPnP then you'd need to manually port forward. Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Unhappy still have connection problems with Mac OS tiger

I have Mac OS tiger and a broadband connection (a network at the office). I followed all the instructions, but I did not know how to fill in the numbers when the new Gnutella/Limewire was created... I put 6346 for both TCP and UDP numbers (didn't know what else to write there!). After following the rest of the instructions, Limewire did not connect either. What can I do next if I want to use Limewire??
What is UPnP?? how do I check if it is enabled?
cheers

It sounds like you configured the firewall properly. It's not difficult.

But trying to connect from a business can bring in its own issues. They may have certain firewalls there you don't have access to.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

If you can't get that page, then it suggests that port 6346 is being blocked. You could instead try a higher port between 49152 - 65535. But you'd also need to add this port to your firewall clearance. To change the port setting in LW, go to LW's prefs>Advanced>Firewalls & change listening port. Press apply. Go to File>Disconnect. Wait a minute. Then File>Connect.
If that doesn't work, then go back to LW's settings & select manual port forward & put the same port number in connection port. Try process again.
