Gnutella error message in limewire I am running limewire in my OS X 10.4. This is the second time limewire has crashed on me, both times it shows me this message: "Limewire is unable to connect to hosts on the Gnutella network. This is often due to firewalls or content-filtering softwareblocking access to Gnutella (port 6346). Please rewiew your firewall's options to allow LimeWire to acess the Gnutella network or speak to your ISP to determine if Gnutella traffic is being filtered." I have tried basic trouble shooting that i found on limewires web site but nothing has helped. When the message comes up, it continues to downloads songs; however, i cannot click away the message even though it has an X in the corner and "OK" at the bottom. if I click, it doesnt do anything. i cannot click anywhere on limewire either, no menues or anything. Its like the program is frozen. Thanks for any advise! |
Do you have your OSX firewall active? See issues about firewalls involving OSX firewall & also modem/router firewalls here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) Also if you're using OSX 10.4 then you should make sure you're using Java 1.5; see Setting up Java 1.5 |
Thanks. I am using a firewall. And i have tried all the connection tips. The weird thing is that when it doesnt give me an error message, limewire works fine. I am currently updating to java 1.5 so maybe that will solve the problem. Limewire freezing up isnt that bad, the problem is it forgets what song i have downloaded and what songs i am currently "trying" to download. its really annoying becuase i end up downloading the same song twice. i say that because with my slow dialup i get only a couple song a day! Hopefully, issue is resolved. :) |
