Download % Goes Back to 0

Hi, I wasn't sure which board to post on so I'm posting this on a few. Basically, this has happened several times, but never with something important enough for me to look into it. What happened was, I was downloading a long video file (350 MB) and I stopped downloading it for a long time, weeks. I figured it would just stay, cause it's Limewire, and it would remain incomplete in my incomplete folder (I use Mac OS X). Well 90% was done and today I got back on the internet with my laptop and the file was back to 0%. I checked my incomplete folder and it was only a few KB, meaning the data definitely disappeared and the download began anew.

How did this happen? Can files and data just disappear or start over like that when they're not done downloading? Is the lost data anywhere on my computer?

Thanks for any help anybody can give me.

In the incomplete folder are two files called .bak and .dat If these get damaged they can cause incomplete files to not restart properly. It is also worth checkng in options>downloads>time to keep incomplete downloads, as the defaolt setting is 7 days.

This may be the answer, but a search of the forums will bring up many threads on the subject.

Also it is not necessary to double post as you will see in the forum rules.
