Default Won't connect (I've read nothing works)/Norton Configuration?

Mac Tiger OSX (10.4.7)
I've put up the 6346 firewall (TCP and UDP) but it didn't work. My guess is that there is a conflict with my Norton Antivirus, but I don't know how to configure it. What do I do?

Most high speed connection devices have internal NAT firewalls. So this may be where your problem is.

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
2. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
3. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
4. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
5. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
6. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
7. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

My guess is cable, but I'm at a university right now. It seems to have the speed of a cable but I'm not 100% on that.

2. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

Don't know... I use my school's built-in Ethernet.

3. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?

University

4. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Limewire 4.12.6, Java 1.5.0_06

5. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?

Sorry, don't know. I just plug into my school's Ethernet (unless that's an isp itself?)

6. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

I know other people are on the same network, because I see other users listed when I run iTunes. Some of the users listed say "(Name)'s Limewire" or something to the extent.

7. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

That's another weird thing. I turned on the 6346 firewall but that link still doesn't work. I don't understand. It just acts as if it's loading for an indefinite length of time.

Many universities block or shape bandwidth for p2p programs. I suspect this might be your problem. Also, some have security which prevents unknown programs connecting to the internet.
