Limewire download speed issue
 

Hi i have a mac mini with a 1.66ghz intel core duo processer and 512 mb of ram, when i use limewire on my mac the highest speed i ever gotten downloading any files was 25kbps! and my internet connection usally downloads from 300 to 1000 kbps just download files when browsing and when i use limewire on my pc or windows on my mac it downloads around 150-300 kbps which is fine but whats the problem with limewire on osx can anybody help plz me!!!?

yeah same problem with me.... very fast on websites and slow on limewire... for me i think its the firewall... do you see the a brick in front of the world at the bottom of you interface?

The brick wall icon will tell you if you have a firewall problem. Is your OSX firewall turned on? If yes, then configure it as described & relaunch LW: OSX Firewall settings for Tiger

it dosent say that it has any problems it just says that a firewall is detected if anybody else has any ideas let me know plz

Sure, what brand & model of modem/router do you have? Did you check your OSX firewall?

thanks guys but i fixed it the problem was that it was going through 2 routers and 1 of the routers was blocking some ports

how did you fix it cause i need help with my windows xp it has the same problem

k the main reason y it was downloading slow is because of my router, my router was blocking some ports, so if ur connected through a router try connecting ur internet directly to ur computer, if it downloads faster than ur problem is because of ur router blocking some of the ports for limewire, if thats the case open limewire and find out wat ports it is using and open them on ur router
