![]() Whenever Limewire is opened on my computer, it will run for around 10 to 15 seconds and then "unexpectedly quit". This can be averted by opening the preferences pane for some reason, but if the preferences pane is not open the application will quit no matter what I try to do. I've purged my hard drive of anything limewire related multiple times and have re-downloaded the .dmg from different websites over and over again, but the problem seems to be native. Limewire had run fine on my computer for about a year (that's as long as I've had it), but recently it has developed this error. It can connect, and remembers past downloads as it normally should, but the problem persists. Some more information for you guys: I'm running Mac OSX version 10.4.8 (Tiger) on an iMac G5 2nd generation (the one before the iSight cameras). The computer had a flaw in the... I want to say motherboard, but that's not it and I can't remember the name of the part right now, but the point is that there was a flaw in it. The problem resulted in the computer crashing randomly, having a jumbled screen, and random freezing. The part that was corrupted was replaced, and the computer has run fine since. Help, please? |

![]() I'm not sure if it's the same model or not but I do know one of the imac models had a problem with over-heating. Try these things: 1. SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions. After repairing permissions then reboot normally. 2. Delete your LW prefs folder whilst it is CLOSED; it is found here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire 3. Consider doing this Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! 4. Don't share over 1,500 files as mac osx's java doesn't handle it very well. 5. Make sure your system is using Java 1.5 by going to Utilities folder, finding Java folder, preferences, ... explained here Setting up Java 1.5 But do this whilst LW is closed. |

![]() By "put 1.5 at the top" do you mean to say "put 1.4.2 at the top"? This is what my preferences for Java look like, and there aren't any 1.5's on there anywhere... I have already done the cleanup things you suggested multiple times (I do them on a regular basis in order to keep Limewire running at optimum speed), so the next thing left to try is rebooting in Safe mode and Repair Permissions. To get into Safe mode I hold "Shift" until the spinning gear appears at startup, right? |
