![]() I have used Limewire before, and used it to download software. I usually had no problems finding the software I was after, but after using it today no results are coming from my searches... (i'm looking for common programmes) which I had downloaded before on my old laptop about a year ago. I'm using a mac. Are there ways to increase my searching power? Is it a setting with my Limewire? Or have new restrictions made it harder to source these programmes? Thanks for your help. |

![]() I'd just like to add to my last post. I've just tried searching for some very common audio files, tracks that are in the charts for example, and it still isn't returning any results! Limewire says that my signal strength is 'very strong'. I am confused! I remember Limewire returning lots of results on searches. Please help! |

![]() I'm having the same problem. I had to install Windows on my MacBook Pro just to download what I need too. It works fine on the Windows side, but not the Mac side, and I'm just confused by this, because it's been working fine for a year now, and all of a sudden it won't return any search results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. MacBook Pro 15" 1GB RAM Max OS X 10.4.8 (Up to date) Win XP Pro SP2 |

![]() Both your problems could be ISP related. Your ISP's might be filtering LW's bandwidth. Jord I suspect you're probably in this boat because an ip check suggests you're using a well known ISP in UK that does not like p2p sharing programs. If you can tell us your ISP name I can direct you to more specific ideas & what to do's if possible. emmtee try downloading a magnet link from here & tell us what happens re: connecting to the file & speeds, etc. http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml If poor result, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; LW prefs folder is found here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire Make a note of important LW settings however because after you delete the LW prefs, you will need to reset everything once you restart LW. |

![]() Well, experience comes with resolved past problems... that's the goal of life in its conquest of matter ![]() I was first to naive to believe some ISP could be dishonnest ! and so, spent lot of time trying to correct what I thought was MY fault... ![]() But the next pitt is to believe, if some new problem arises, that it would be necessarily caused by the ISP !... ![]() |

![]() I am experiencing similar problems with the new Limewire 4.13.0 for Mac OS X Tiger. I get very few search results (compared to what I get on my girlfriend's laptop - which is windows based and under a different ISP) and any torrents I download remained fixed at the "locating sources" stage for days. What can I do about this? Thanks in advance. |

![]() Do you use LimeWire pro, or standard... since I seem to remember having read somewhere that one of the differences between the two, is the aptitude of the pro version to handle more peers together (then, obviously, more sources) But, you mentionned also yourself that one of the differences with your girlfriend, appart of working on Windows (but I'm working on mac, and it's fine) is ALSO the ISP... I would give to that more then just one consideration! go and have a look on Lord of the ring's post just a bit higher... and follow the link... some ISPs can indeed produce funny things (or not so funny!). I dunno if there are se same type of tests for LImeWire than for eD2k, but with the donkey, one can connect to some sites (one of them is bigwillystyle42), and they tell you if they succeded to communicate with your donkey... of course you could download the donkey just for the experiment... An other site makes also all the tests to see what your protections are... so, you can see what ports or fully open or shut or stielthed, and removing for few secs all your protections, if some appears stil shut, you can know, then that it is from your ISP (by the way, some are almost always shut by them to prevent you to be a server) <https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2>. Cheers |

![]() Have LW open whilst you do the test at grc. Otherwise it will give you the wrong impression. I get 'closed' ports, yet with LW open I get 'open' port test results at GRC test site for the port LW uses. |
