![]() Hi guys, hope to get this problem resolved. Upon installing LW, and launching it for the first time, the loading screen will briefly attempt to load but then it stops and an empty box titled "Limewire Setup Dialog" appears with a "cancel" option on the bottom of this box. When clicking the box off or the cancel button, the loading cancels. I have tried most of the suggested fixes like reinstalling the latest Java, did a safe boot, repaired permissions, restarted. Used CleanApp to delete all LW related files and reinstalled LW. I am currently JUM's nightly build (4.13.2jum) and got the same anomaly. LW worked until around the time that I updated my OS to 10.4.9. Thanks in advance for your help. ![]() Hi dinky Since you've done all the right checks, sounds like a java problem. Does java work at all? (Try running one of the Apple supplied java apps in the Utilities/Java folder, like Input Method Hotkey.app.) |

![]() Thanks for responding stief. I launched the Java Input Method Hotkey and all I got was a little window with the header "Input Method Hotkey" and at the bottom right I clicked the "OK" button and the window disappears and the application quits. This is a newly downloaded current Java. Any thoughts? Thanks again. |

![]() Hi dinky --thanks for the test. OK--we now know it's a problem with java and your machine, and since you already reinstalled java, I'm stumped for easy answers . . . but next is to try and see if it's a software problem. Well, if your AppleCare is still active, I'd try them out for help. Since the crash now happens with no third-party non- Apple ingredients, you won't have to put up with the "Oh--it's a LimeWire problem" runaround. The other check I can think of is to see if the problem is in your Home settings. If you create a new admin user account (System Preferences > Accounts) this will create a brand new user, with all new preferences. Log into the new user account and try running the hotkey check from there. If it crashes there too, you'll know the next place to check is in the overall system, not just in your usual Home user settings. You should also be able to run the Console (it's in the Utilities folder too) at the same time to see if any error messages help narrow down the problem. other checks: Repair Permissions (ugh--usually considered voodoo, but who knows?) -trying while in Safe Boot with all peripherals unplugged (in case of 3rd party peripheral driver conflicts) |
