no search results ive ben using limewire for about a month now and its been working fine, but all of a sudden, im not getting any search results. whats wrong? |
Connected fine? If so, try an "Any Type" search using the "What's New" search type, and see if any results come in. If all else fails, reset your preferences (command-comma) back to default. |
i am connected fine, and i tried both of your suggestions but im still getting no serch results. |
weird. Can you attach a screenshot after doing a "What's New " search? (command shift 3 or 4 will take a screenshot), and let us know your mac version and LW version. |
I am having same issue My LW has been working fine and then last night no matter what I search for no search results. I have all green bars. I did command comma and restored the default settings and made sure i have the most current version. Any other ideas? If I completely uninstall and start over will I lose what I have already? Thanks! P.S. I have a MacBook and Mac OSX 10.4.8 |
i'm having the same problem. i've used LimeWire for about 2 years, never had any problems. however, just upgraded to OS 10.4.6. now, when i do a search, it doesn't bring up anything. the lime just keeps spinning and spinning. could it be an issue with Tiger? |
My searches are also coming up empty since 2 days ago 4/08/2007 Does anyone know why or how to fix this? I take it the network is done. I am using 10.4.9 OSX and Limewire 4.12.11 with Comcast Cable internet, Thanks |
This happens to me, too. (I'm using OS X 10.3.9; LW 4.12.11) Since a couple of days ago, LimeWire hasn't been turning up any search results for me. Everything was working fine before, and my connection is still "very strong." (I do have a firewall and I haven't used the 'port forwarding' like I should have, but that hasn't been problematic for the month or so that I've been using LW.) Anyone know what's going on? |
This is getting weirder. Search works fine here, so something else is going on. Can any of you get search results when you go to the Connections Pane (you may have to turn on the Connections Pane from the View Menu) and click on one of your Ultrapeers and use the "Browse" button? Does anyone else use Comcast? |
I don't use Comcast but I'm facing the same problem here. |
Thanks for the link sjshipper. If the Mac folks want to try the equivalent of "resetting the computer", just go to System Preferences->Accounts and create a new Admin user http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h.../en/mh168.html This allows you to test without touching your existing settings. Check the "Allow User to administer this computer" in the password tab to make the new account an Admin account. Log into the new account, run LW from there, and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then the problem rests in the settings in your usual account. If the problem continues, at least you know that to look outside your Mac for the solution. (you can always delete the new account from the System Preferences, and your Mac will be back to its usual state) |
I tried your suggestion and the problem was fixed. So now i can run LW from the new account but still having problems with the old account. How to fix the old account? I'm running on MacBook Pro using Airport. |
thanks for the tip aangulo LW saves its settings in the Home->Library/Preferences/LimeWire folder. Just trash that folder when LimeWire is quit, and next time LW opens, new settings will be created from scratch, just like in the new account. If you really want to help narrow down the problem, try deleting just the gnutella.net file from that folder (it remembers the addresses of your search hosts). Can anyone else help aangulo setup the Airport? (I'm hardwired to a router) |
Blank search pages for one user I too am having the same problem. 2 days ago, my searches for only one user on the iMac return blank pages. All other users are okay. Anybody have any solutions? I'm also a newbie at Mac - have used Limewire for years with Windows based computer but have moved to the good side. |

I'm using OSX 10.4.9 and the free version of limewire. Any other clues? |
You have to look in the Home folder's Library. OS X has a Library for each user, plus a Library for the whole system. You can get at the Home Library by clicking on the Desktop and using the Go Menu to get to Home |
Stief...... Up and running!!!! Thanks for the help. |
Not a mac user I'm not a mac user, using limewire on my laptop, I was able to search and download about 1 hour ago, restarted my computer and all off a sudden not able to....I'm not sure what to do, and just to let you know, I'm not very technically advanced lol! |
This problem with no connecting only happens on one user on the Mac. There are three other users on the same computer, and they can search fine. I deleted LW on the account of the one user having troubles and reinstalled it, but this remains a problem. I don't think the removal of the program was complete though as on the fresh install, all of the shared files from before were then in the library. |
My preferences folder also does not include a LW folder. Could it be stored elsewhere? |
OS X has a Library folder for each user, plus a Library for the System. Click on your desktop, and use command-shift-H to go to the Home folder. You'll see a folder called Library. The LimeWire folder is inside the Preferences folder. You can also use the Spotight search inside the Library to find the LimeWire folder, in case it doesn't show up right away. |
1 Attachment(s) No need to delete the entire LimeWire folder--just the gnutella.net file (it contains the list of hosts that handle searches). An temporary fix is to just go to the LimeWire Prefs, and in Filters->Hosts, block 204.11.219.* (see attached screenshot) The next version due out shortly will probably fix this problem. Cheers all |
