Limewire hangs up when starting up...
 

The last version of Limewire that worked on my unit was v 4.12.11. Since then, every later version installs fine, but has stalled when actually starting up, at the 62% loaded point, specifically when "Loading Playlist Window" (an item that does not show up when booting v4.12.11) .The program does not crash but will not progress past that point. Using a eMac G4 with Tiger 10.4.9 OS. Have cleared all application related Pref files, re-downloaded, re-installed, to no avail. Finding same now happens with FrostWire. Answers??

Set up a new account & open LW from there & see if same thing happens. BUT, do not select the same download location & only choose a minimal share amount if any. See more details here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/272944-post4.html

If the same thing happens then most likely a Java problem (or perhaps disk directory issue.) If it doesn't happen, then let me know.

Thanks for your help. Did as you suggested. I had a vanilla test OS which I booted and from which I was able to open both Limewire 4.13.6 and Frostwire 4.13.7, which I'd not been using my default OS. Any further suggestions to reconcile the problem on my default OS?

yes .. did you try setting up a new account under the default OS to see if same thing happens? You can always delete the account later.
