On a new iMac--Limewire suddenly stopped working. I got a new iMac with the Intel processor about a month ago. I used the Mac setup to transfer all my apps over from my old G4. Everything has been working great, including Limewire Pro. Suddenly this week, Limewire started acting up. The app opens, brings up the initial window/hints pop-up and then quits itself. I cleared out the preferences, made sure the Incomplete folder is empty, and I don't have my Firewall on. I also updated my software including Java. No dice. :bangh: Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. I know other people have had this problem, but if someone can please help me, I'd appreciate it. Nothing seems to be working. I reinstalled the Java, cleared out my preferences, did a Safe Boot and repaired permissions... 1. OS version? OSX 10.4.9 2. What firewalls you have? Don't have any set up 3. How much ram? 2 gigs 4. Hard Disk space available? 380 gigs 5. Connection type? DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? N/A 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Carriage House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Latest versions of both 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem. Been using Limewire for a while. Transferred Limewire Pro to my new iMac and it worked fine, then suddenly started crashing after opening to the search window for a few seconds. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? :yikes: |

Try setting up a new virgin account. Go to System Prefs > (System) > Accounts Click the lock & type in your password. Then click the Add button & think of a new name for an account. eg: Test. And make a simple easy to remember password. After doing this, log into your new account. Open LW from there & see if you have same problem. (Remember you can have both accounts still active if you're using Tiger. Click under your name in the top right-side of the menu bar & you will see log-in option. You can swap easily between accounts there.) Tell us how it goes. Oh & when you open up LW, do not use the same download location as the other account. Better still, make it a different drive/partition if you have one. I have a suspicion you may have a directory problem. Do you have DiskWarrior by any chance? One option is to start up using your Installation disk & open Disk Utility from the utilities folder & use "repair disk" (do NOT repair permissions from the installation disk.) |
