![]() Hello -- I'm new to these forms, and I'm having some issues with LimeWire. Any help will come much appreciated. First off, LimeWire starts automatically when Windows starts when I turn my computer on, even though I told it not to during installation. Is there any way to change this? The next problem occurs when I try to close it. I close the LimeWire window and then I go to the dash tray or whatever it's called at the bottom right of the task bar on the opposite side of the start menu where all those little icons are, and I right-click the LimeWire icon and click "Exit" so I know that it's completely closed and not taking up any system resources or memory. This appears to work correctly, but then within 5 or 10 seconds of closing LimeWire, it automatically re-opens itself all over again without any instruction from me. No matter how many times I close LimeWire it always restarts itself within 5 or 10 seconds. In effect, LimeWire has conveniently made it so that I can not run Windows without having LimeWire open at all times. Can anyone help me with this? Having to have LimeWire open every second my computer is on is slowing it down and using alot of resources and memory that I shouldn't have to be using, and it's getting rather frustrating. Is there anyway to keep this from happening, and is there any way to keep LimeWire from opening at startup in the first place? Once again, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks... -- Tron ![]() |

![]() Thanks Wondering Why -- that was alot of help. Yes, I am on a MacBook (which is why I accidentally put this in the Mac section), but I'm running Windows XP so I should have put this in the Windows section. I used Boot Camp so I can run Mac OS X and Windows XP on the same computer (a MacBook), and I switch back and forth between the two often. I have LimeWire installed on both OSes but it's on Windows that I was having this problem, so apologies for putting this one in the wrong section. Anyways, I followed the instructions in your link and, after reinstalling LimeWire, I launched it and then closed it, and it has yet to restart itself, and it's been about 15 minutes, whereas before it was restarting it self in less than 15 seconds, so I think it has worked! Anyways, I really appreciate your taking the time to help me out with that one. I'm still in the process of setting up and organizing both my operating systems (just got MacBook two weeks ago) and this LimeWire issue was not making it any easier for me, so it's very nice to have that one off my back. Thanks again for your help, Wondering -- much appreciated. -- B-Tron |
