Cannot Upload or Break Firewall - Please Help

Been trying for days and checked out every relevant thread I can find.
Here's the problem. I can put my folders into limewire but not the files, music, playlists, movies etc they contain as they are dimmed. Also I cannot break the firewall. Are the two problems connected?
Have gone to os x Firewall settings for tiger and complied.
Have gone to adsl Router and ensured UPnP enabled.
1. OS version? - os x 10.4.9
2. What firewalls you have? - os x?-opened for LW as per instructions.
3. How much ram? - 640
4. Hard Disk space available? - 58 Gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) - broadband adsl
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? -D-Link adsl router 502T
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? - House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? - 4.12.15 & 1.4.2_09
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Spin (Australia) who advise they support p2p and have no blocking of limewire
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? - Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. - No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st Try
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? - Yes
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? - UPnP enabled. connected via ethernet cable to computer.

Other Information: ISP connection Speed 256/64

I have d/l the adsl router user's guide but do not understand any of the terms re firewall or what items to check or uncheck via the web page. Could it be this? And if so what should be checked or unchecked.
If someone cannot help me I'll just be another freeloader. Would rather not.

You have a Nat Firewall within your router and you will need to port forward...
These are your instructions...
Port Forwarding for the Dlink DSL-502T

As I am not a Mac user , I can't help with the other problem you are experiencing sorry...;)

Thank You for reply. Much appreciated.
But now really confused cos before I could set Port Foward I noticed hits and uploads occurring (on my D/L files), even with brick wall still there. So do I need to remove the wall or not?

Well if it's not effecting your downloading or uploading leave it, but you probably won't be able to direct connect...
Why did you list it as a problem ??

Trying To Be a Good LWer

:shoot:
Appreciate reply. Answer is, I cannot put my music, playlists, movies, etc into LW to share (still can't) and would like to.
While searching threads there is all the chat and instruction about settings to remove the wall against globe, which apparently helps everyone and improves my connection to other LW users and G network. wall still up.
This morning is the first time there was any activity at all re upload, registering in bottom left. Now none.
Spent all day trying to figure out port forwarding (still trying as difficulty understanding ip's).
Bottom Line. Just don't want to be selfish is all.
Any suggestions from any mac users welcome. And yes I know I'm  dumb when it comes to computers so keep it simple please.

At Last. Nearly there. But Playlists?

:)
Been a while, nearly there. Got the firewall down. So hopefully can better share music and videos.

Port Forwarding did it. :xeri_ok1ani: The threads and instructions helped but so many anomolies and significant differences for my computer and router set up. Had to interpret and persevere.

Managed to put some music and videos in library too. But not using LW app.
Had to put files on desktop (duplicates when not wanting to move originals (important especially for iTunes). Then open Finder and drag the desktop files to my LW folder there. The files then appear in red in LW library (and stay red). It was then nescessary to select each file, right (control) click and select "share file" from menu. :yahoo:

Now all I would like is to find a thread (been looking) or instruction to put playlists in library instead of just single song files. Is it possible? - Anyone!
Yes or no would do.

Thanks to Wondering Why for answering initially.

By the way, What is direct connect?

This should help...
How to use Bitzi Web Lookup .. & How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect/Browse/Chat

Uploading own files?

:rolleyes_2:
Thanks for that Wondering Why. Yes I worked out Bitzi. And will study Magnet link.

Even with Firewall gone, strong signal and getting a lot of hits on my files there are no uploads (except for some uploads on files downloaded from LW). Don't know if this is a problem or not? Appreciate your thoughts if you have time.

One thing that puzzles me is the whatismyip link. I have the number but don't know where to put it or what to do with it?

Have managed to work out how to share playlists / Albums. The trick is to record the Playlist, Album, or Side in the case of old LP's, as one file or song. It can then be placed in the library for upload. (If I can sort out above). Once downloaded the other end the recipient can use an App such as Quicktime PRO or Toast to edit / Trim to pull out the individual songs.

Shouldn't the posts be in last posted - first listed order?

Apart from above re upload everything going well :xeri_ok1ani:

Give it time, now that your firewall is down you will have other hosts browsing your files, don't panic...;)
