Mac Newbie w/ Quicktime/Lime Player problems

Greetings, Everyone!

I can't get the Limewire player to open or play any of my movie downloads (I see the controlls at bottom-right of screen); and my Quicktime player doesn't recognize most of the download formats. Any ideas?
