Greetings, Everyone!

I can't get the Limewire player to open or play any of my movie downloads (I see the controlls at bottom-right of screen); and my Quicktime player doesn't recognize most of the download formats. Any ideas?

LW does not have a video player. It's only for audio files. If you want to play video I recommend VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site). To make it your default video player see How to change default program in OSX
