Limewire 2.1.3 DOES NOT WORK!

I "upgraded" to 2.1.3 on OS X, and now I can't get anything from anyone. I can find things I would like to download with up to "Multiple (10)" yet none of them are able to download. I have also noticed that pretty much nobody is able to download from me, yet before when I was using 2.1, I had a constant stream of people downloading from me (I have 400+ files available).

Is it possible that there is some sort of weird "version clash" that's causing this problem? Like I said, 2.1 had worked pretty well for me, but now 2.1.3 is doing nothing for me.

HELP!

P.S. I have just noticed that everyone that is trying to download from me is getting a FILE NOT FOUND message in the Status column on the Monitor Tab. Yet it still says that I'm sharing 406 files?!

We'll look into any issues in this area. Do you have multiple user accounts on your machine? We have seen problems with write permissions if you use LimeWire from different accounts on OSX.

My Limewire 2.1.3 also won't work!!

I upgraded last week to Limewire 2.1.3 (using OS 10.1.2), and I get maybe 2% of all downloads I initiate, it redraws constantly and when the files download they are hidden until I go find them in Sherlock and manually drag them where I need to put them. I also notice almost no upload activity (I have over 1,300 files) and the preferences I save don't stay saved. Help!!

It sounds like there might be a couple of issues going on.

On the preferences side, do you have multiple user accounts on your machine? It sounds like LimeWire is trying to write to a file/directory that it does not have permissions for. One solution for this would be to reinstall LimeWire in a directory where you have permissions, and then add your old shared directory to your list of shared directories in the options window.

As far as continual redraws, we are aware of this issue in the case where you try to expand a group as more search results are still coming in. This should be fixed in the next release. Are there other cases where continual redraws will occur?

As far as the downloads not going to your shared directory correctly, it sounds like this might also be an issue with user permissions. Is it possible that you do not have permissions to write to your save directory? We're going to change the behavior of this in future releases, so this issue should be fixed. For now, though, reinstalling to a new directory would probably be the best solution.

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually have only one user account on the computer, and am using the same directory I used sucecssfully with previous versions of Limewire. It sounds like others are experiencing the same problem - I saw this on a review of Limewire on one of the portal sites the other day.

When you say that the preferences aren't saved, are you referring to your setting in the options window, or to things like column positioning? Also, when you quite the program, are you quitting through the quit option in the Mac menu bar, or through the File>>Close option within the LimeWire window?

Finally, do most of your downloads end up in the "Could Not Download" state?

Hi Adam:

The typical issue I have with preferences is setting my minimal speed as a search criteria. I save it, then still get results saying "Modem."

And yes, virtually everything I try to download now results in a "Could Not Download" message.

Both of these problems are new to the latest release. The Release before that was AWESOME - Limewire never performed better.

Thanks!

Hmmnn...I'm not at all sure what's going on with the problems downloading, especially since that part of the code has not changed at all to my knowledge. Is it possible that you just got unlucky with some of your downloads, or are you continuing to have this problem?

The preferences issue is also odd. Would you mind doing a little experiment for me? Just try changing some other settings aside from the speed filter setting, and also try setting the speed filter setting to, say, T3, and then restarting. There may be an issue with that setting in particular. When you do this, are any of the settings saved the next time you start LimeWire?

Thanks.

The downloading problem was immediate when I installed the new version - and I have re-downloaded the version and installed it again since then. I usually bring down 25-30 songs a day and have succeeded in just six successful downloads in the last week. I just tried again - selecting about 20 songs from a list of 33 Alice in Chains hits from 5-6 different sources. All went to Couldn't Download just seconds after trying to connect.

I can't get the settings problem to happen again - sorry to waste your time on that one.

Your service is great on this, Adam! I'll buy the Pro version just to support you guys (even though I hear it doesn't work right).
