Limewire can't connect past firewall on Leopard Hello all, I've in an Intel Core 2 duo, 2.33 Ghz, Macbook pro, running Leopard OS X 10.5.1 I can run limewire 4.14.10 but it says there's no connection and that there's a firewall. As i understand, I don't have a firewall on. Any help? - I searched the forums, but couldn't find a clear answer. Thanks for any help |
You've checked the System Preferences, on the first line is the Security button? That opens the Security Window where there's a Firewall button? I have a desktop imac G5 intel core duo, and just installed Leopard. I had to set the button in the Firewall window to "Set access for specific services and applications." What I see are three applications that "block incoming connections" and one (LimeWire.app) that "Allows incoming connections." Limewire works even through my wireless network without detecting a firewall. Also, have you installed the firmware and other latest Leopard follow-on upgrades that Apple just released for PowerBooks? |
Thanks, I've do have all the latest updates for leopard, and have changed my secuirty settings as you said...however Limewire still says that it's behind a firewall. Any other advice? |
LW shows a firewall until a connection is made. That being said, and since you followed jvg's good suggestions, the brickwall can also indicate a firewall outside your computer (like in a router or a dorm/school network). Sounds like your machine is set up properly, so try talking to whomever controls other equipment between you and the general internet. |
