Default Cant connect..here's my stats

1. OS version? Mac OS X 10.4.11
2. What firewalls you have? None
3. How much ram? 1.5GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 80GB internal, 250GB & 500GB External
5. Connection type? cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola SB5120 Surfboard Modem
7. Where are you trying to connect from? House (Home)
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW Pro 4.15.0 Java 1.5.0_07
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. First time I had a problem, user for YEARS
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, though I've never used a firewall
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I USED to have UPnP enabled but the posts I was reading was telling me to port forward. The most interesting thing I have found is that LW ALWAYS had port 6346 and now, even when I type 6346 in, LW changes the number after the required restart.
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? None, ever.
16. What country are you living in? US, New Jersey.

I have never had a problem connecting until 3 days ago. Comcast did something that caused me to lose connection for 5 minutes and I had to restart my airport express base stations in order to get on the internet again. Also, my husband's PC can't even CONNECT to the internet since Comcast's update. So, I personally think they added a firewall on their end but I have no idea what to do about it. I am clueless when it comes to networking beyond using the Aiport express utilities. And all of the fixes in these forums are Windows based and don't apply to Mac users. Please post a sticky if you find a fix.

It has been discussed in a private forum here about Comcast being caught out attempting to block p2p programs. This may be your issue, but not necessarily.

In meantime, try these things:
1. Delete your LW prefs folder whilst LW is CLOSED. See instructions here: Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX. Be sure to make a note of all your settings before you do this because next time you open LW you will need to re-set your download location, speed, etc.

2. (a) Problems with the search, __ (b) Hostiles List

LOTR, I,m new here but I have spent some time browsing the forums an tech help sections. I'm having a problem starting limewire. I download and statr but the setup freezes at 12%. I have deleted the limewire forlder in applications as instructed, I have also deleted and re-installed the older version of java. I have associated the file to windows 2000 (I run XP-sp2). and I have started it as the admin but to no avail. Any help you might have would be much appreciated.

hi chinita This is the Mac OSX section of the forums, your problem is applicable to windows. You can also try changing compatibility mode to NT & see if that helps. Also, change user to Admin. Delete LW prefs, remove all your java versions & reinstall OFFLINE using Java 1.5; see steps 1 & 3 & the later two here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link)
