Multiple problems

Hi. I've been using LimeWire on my Powerbook G4 for several years. I downloaded the new version last week, and it's nothing but trouble. First, it seems to open -- though it takes a long time -- but nothing shows up on the screen, just the lime icon in the bar. Second, and worse, it really screws up my Java. In fact, if I open LimeWire I don't have Java anymore. I have to reinstall it.

My firewall is turned off. I've seen some discussion of ports, but I'm not really sure how to do that fix.

Should I consider another app., such as Phex, instead of LimeWire?

I work on OS 10.4.11 BTW.

Boy, I'd really be grateful for some suggestions.

Java gets uninstalled? That really sounds odd.

Try this: Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX

If you still have the previous LW version, try going back to it if you still have problems.

BTW there's nothing wrong with trying Phex out, I use both & I really like Phex. Phex connects to gnutella clients LW rarely connects to because LW always favors other LW users to connect to. So you will find you will get different types of search results. It also has a size & word filter for searches.
