Saving and sharing problems
 

In the current version of LimeWire, along with the two previous releases of LimeWire, when I set the Saving preferences to a folder on my iMac, sure enough the downloaded file goes to where I want it to. However, that saved file is then automatically shared, for some weird reason. I have a seperate LimeWire Sharing folder on my iMac, and these files are being shown as shared, which is how I want things to be. It's just annoying that files in my Saved folder are becoming shared without my permission. This I do not want to happen !
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the current version of LimeWire many times, and still the said problem exists!
The only way I can get round this is to use an older (4.14 ) version of LimeWire.
Can somebody out there in LimeWireland help, please ?!:confused:

There's a setting in LW to automatically share downloads. If you don't wish it to be, disable that option & just share what you wish. You can control-click the files or folders you wish to share or not to share. ;) ie: In LW prefs click on Sharing then you will see an option at bottom of window that shows. :) You can also remove your download folder as a shared folder.

Thanks for your quick response to my query.
In LW prefs, I currently do not have the Download Sharing / Share Finished Downloads box ticked !
I have been a LW user since day 1 of your application being born, and I have experienced no problems in the past.
To reiterate, the sharing problem became evident after LW version 4.14.....the version I am now having to use to overcome stated annoyance !
One thing that may be of interest to you is that I have the same prefs set-up in FrostWire, and no such problem exists there.

I just upgraded from 4.14.8 to 4.16.6. For a start, it asked me during installation which extensions I wished to share. Despite unticking many, after LW started & I check shared extensions, the extensions were still there checked so I had to uncheck them again. DOH :rolleyes: :whistling:

My shared folders are within the LW download folder. So everytime I download a new file I need to decide whether I wish to share that file or not. But this was the same with LW 4.14.8, that they were automatically shared. I think that's because the main folder chosen to share is the LW download folder. I should imagine the only way to overcome that is remove the LW download folder from shared list, then choose each folder specifically to add to the shared list.

BTW I no longer post at the LW beta forums. After over half a year of Sam Berlin scoffing at my bug reports I felt there was no point any longer. (Arrogance seems to get the better of some people after they get a small elevation in position.) Nor do I contact him directly any longer.
