I am using a Powermac G3 with OSX 10.1.5,Java 1.3.1, Installed Limewire 4.8.1, the install went smoothly when I open Limewire it isnt connecting, I get the one box green and beside it reads connecting, had lime wire, everything was great i had a problem hat to re-format my harddrive now the new install wont connect

yea, all software current old but current, java update 1.3.1, osx 10.1.5 with all updates tried re-downloading limewire, tried downloading different versions, nothing helps

Won't connect? Is your OSX firewall on? If yes did you make an exception for LW? LW did not support UPnP back then in those versions I don't believe, or at least I suspect the Java version of that period might not have been effective enough to run UPnP, in which case, if you have a router or modem with NAT, then you will need to port forward that device. To port forward, read manual, first & most important step is setting up a static ip.
