Talking with the new version 2.2.1....

I am happy you guys at lime wire finally seem to understand what a music downloader is supposed to be like. This version is much faster, and the is finally acceptable. Keep up the good work, but I suggest dropping JAVA, and switching over to Cocoa or perhaps Carbon to increase speed.

Post java all right

I think version 2.2 is a great example of what Java should do. Yes, Apple insists on forcing the Aqua interface onto Java apps, but 2.2 (vs. 2.1, or 1.7) runs exactly as it should. I'd rather see development hours put into the unified Java source than wasted by developing for three or more platforms individually. (And yes, I do appreciate the development time that must be devoted to platform-specific testing and bug fixing - In a perfect world, Microsoft would understand why anyone would want to program a cross-platform Java application)
cheers

I really liked this version too.
The GUI is much faster now and
everything responds quicker.

The only remaining problem is the
continuous refresh. Every time I
change focus or do pretty much anything
the entire window refreshes.

On a hopeful note, rumors are that
Apple is working on improving java
performance for OS 10.2 and specifically
targeting screen drawing speed.

About moving away from Java, this
would be a bad idea. Limewire's
primary customer's are Windows people
and Java on Windows is really fast.
It would be better tell apple that you
want better Java performance in OSX.
