Default Tcp & Udp ????

Hi. Like many other Mac users I'm struggling to get a connection - wall shown on firewall icon -

On one of the main help pages its says:

"Enter the TCP and UDP port numbers as specified in LimeWire's settings"

Where exactly do I find these?

Thanks.

Oh that's either if you're manually port forwarding your modem/router, else for your OSX firewall.
For OSX firewall settings, see OSX Firewall settings for Tiger/Leopard

As for your modem/router if it needs port forwarding, I might be able to help advise if it needs to be.
If you can supply these details: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

In the meantime, set the OSX firewall up or turn it off, also http://www.gnutellaforums.com/306179-post17.html

Lord, cheers. I'm not very computer savy. I've tried a few bits of advice from these boards but just cant get past that one red bar/wall thing.

Anyhow, heres info on what I'm using.

Mac lap top G4
Firewalls off & only default ones installed
512 Ram (I think)
Broadband
Using Toucan Surf router
connecting from my house/landline
Limewire is most recent/basic version

I'll have to look into other info - as I said I'm not to savy....

Which ISP are you using? Many UK ISP's block or shape p2p sharing over certain hours of the day.

Well, if firewall is off, it doesn't sound like the router but ... I'd need to research that one. So sounds like the ISP to me off-hand. I am off to bed so will review this tomorrow.

OK. Not sure on ISP, I'll look into this.
I've just updated Java to relase 5 for 10.4
Also just gone through some of your links and set up my firewall according to your "OS X FIREWALL (standard instructions):"

Just restarted limewire but still the same.... Hope you get back, I could really do with some help.....

A short cut, I did an ip check & it appears your ISP is TISCALI UK. Now they are the worst ISP in UK however they control many smaller ISP's under them unfortunately.

Check for options here: ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire (click the links under Tiscali)

BTW this is an important note about their rules: Tiscali - Fair usage policy

(This can also affect connections.)
