Help Balloons

When searching for tunes on Limewire, everywhere my arrow points, it's bombarded with with those yellow "Info" windows. I find them downright irritating . They're about to drive me crazy:crazy:! Is there a way to turn them off??? Thanx for any help.

p.s. If this is not the place for this post....my apologies.

Go to LW's library > control + click anywhere on the column header > more options > untick 'extended tooltips'.

I'm not a Mac user, so I'm sorry if this doesn't work:o

Birdy,
Thought I had gotten rid of balloons from hell. lol. It worked for a little while, then the balloons were back. Guess I'll have to keep looking. Thanx for trying!

The yellow balloons or boxes you see are default. They show the description of the file. eg: mp3 id3 tag information or movie description, etc. Not all files have a description, but most people add them because it helps the file to be found in searches & also supplies more identifying information so a person knows if it's different to another of same name, etc. (eg: song length)

There are also some that belong to the program. For example if you hover your cursor over the Library window download folder / Saved Files folder then it will show the directory location of that folder. ;)

Wonderful! But from seeing the info in them, every time they pop up, I kinda gathered that's what their purpose was. I'm not really interested in what their purpose is. All I know is that I'd like to get rid of them, since they're in my way and I find them quite annoying! There should be a way to turn them off and if there isn't, I can't say much for the LW service. I'm quite sure I'm not the only who feels this way about this annoyance. Thanx.

My mistake, turning off Extended Tooltips should work even after restarting LW. Why yours are still showing suggests the preferences might be mucked up. Did you recheck to see that the tooltips is still turned off? Try turning it back on then off again. If still no good then make a note of all settings, then close LW & delete your LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed. ___ Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX

In Windows, turning off extended toolips does last once the session's over. KDdid, I should've told you that you can also remove extended tooltips from the search page - by doing the same thing as in the library.

Aacckkkkkk!!! I think I'm going to go crazy anyway, with so many things to keep track of! :yikes:

Birdy and Lord, I do thank you for your time in trying to help. So, your efforts don't go unappreciate. I'll give it a try later on. I've booked marked your suggestions. Thanx again!
