Thumbs down limewire cripples my mac

Just got v2.2.3 (not pro) to see what it was like.

Ok so I may not have two processors, but I'm running a G4 400 tower with 10.1.3, and with only Limewire running (even quitting the finder!) it is highly unresponsive. Windows don't redraw, the mouse takes seconds to react, and pops up unpredictably once moved, hitting a button is a tricky feat, and requires several adjustments to line up the mouse, then hold down the button for 5 seconds to get acknowledgement, resizing is ambitious, and yet process viewer says it uses less than 40% of the CPU. I have a cable modem, and D/L speeds are acceptable, but I just can't use the interface or do anything else while it is running. What do I need to change?

Default

First of all, Did you run the Software update on Java? That helps big time. Second it'd help if you gave us a real version. 2.1.3 wasn't a good version on the Mac. 2.2.0 (or 1) was acceptable.
