Default Working on win32, but not OS X?

hello all, i am baffled and need to post to get some help here... i installed the newest version of limewire on my new macbook, and it won't connect... i tried all the ticks posted but still it wont connect... so i downloaded the win32 version and put it on my winXP box and it connected like lightning... so i figured i would trouble shoot the macbook... here is what i did....

1. OS version?
Mac OSX 10.5.4

2. What firewalls you have?
Linksys SRX400 built in weak firewall. Disabled OSX native firewall (allow all apps enabled)

3. How much ram?
4GB

4. Hard Disk space available?
62GB free of 250GB total

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
8mbit cable

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Motorola Surfboard --> Linksys SRX400 built in weak firewall

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
house

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
LW v4.18.5 Pro
Java 1.5.0_13

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?
Comcast

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www3.limewire.com:6346.
Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
On wireless segment of network, 192.168.1.200, have ports 3992-6500 pointed to this macbook. I run utorrent on Win32, Vuse on Mac OSX

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
1st time user... put LW on other puter (WinXP and it loads fine, no settings changes were needed)... i'm a field engineer for WebMD so this isn't my first rodeo
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
YES... i'd like to kick a hole in it

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
Modem is Motorola surfboard so its passive, UPnP is enabled on SRX400 Linksys rtr, also forwarded ports 3992-6500 to the Mac w/ these problems.

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall
its a mac so no AV app, firewall now set to allow all programs.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
Good ol' USofA

If anyone wants to help me out, drop me an email... i dare you to fix this!

Thanks all,

Calfmandooo

Make sure your OSX LW is not using the same port (connection or listening port) as any other program on your computer or network. Your Linksys is port forwarded? It sounds like it. Is your LW set to Manual Port Forward?

Make sure Performance options are all disabled in LW. Make sure OOB is disabled under Speed options. Set LW to connect manually. Let LW open, load any shares or incompletes if any, then try connecting.

Send me a PM, I will send you an older LW version to try out, the newer versions are a little trouble-some connecting.

PS: Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier.

LoTR,

I have tried your tweaks, and all i get to is "Starting connnection. It appears as if LW is doomed to not work on my macbook. I did all you said, and double checked the ports/manual port forwarding in my rtr (although every app w/UPnP usually does not need this done) and still i get squat. I'll take you up on trying abn older version, i shall PM you asap. Thank you for the response,

Calfmandooo

You will not be able to use LW on both computers using same port number. Link to older version sent via PM.

Got PM, muy apreciatO... thing is both my LW running OS's are on the same laptop, so that port is linked to a single machine sharing a Wireless card/MAC/IP, but not ever running at same time... that shouldn't mean that i need run LW on 2 different ports for the same adapter on the same machine under a different OS does it?? if so, PLEASE explain why that could possibly be (PS this "macbook" has no FW on either OS) "iPhear" no hacking.

Also, i left ALL defaults on--out of the box [installer] on WinXP and the thing fired right up... used a port frd for OS X 1/2 way across the range after reading all the tricks and FAQ's and still couldn't get past "Connection Starting" on OS X.

I appreciate your help, and if this older version works, i shall "be in your debt" (not in yer 'pocket' though) heh.

Thanks,

Calf

Just check under options > Advanced > Firewall, that they are not set to same ports.
Change the OSX connection port to something else like 64049 for example. (Command & comma keyboard shortcut to bring up preferences for osx lw.)
