Default Stuck On "starting Connection ??? (IM on a new Mac)

OK . Yes im a newbie, ive read posts but am still unasure. my limewire pro was kicking butt this am , then all went south and no connection ???
if i download too many , does it matter, with my dowload max set at 10 ??
lost !!! help please
IM on a new Mac . with the latest pro version of limewire

Yes too many can affect connection. The reason is the incomplete files all try to connect at same time as the program is trying to connect, thus flooding the connection. This is why we recommend to occasionally do this Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link)

Another thing you can do is set LW to only connect manually. So you open the program, let it settle for a few minutes. Then go to File menu & choose connect. This option is set via the LW preferences > Connections.

If you are using a wireless modem/router, then that might be causing issues. Some wireless devices do not handle high traffic messages being sent & may lose connection occasionally. As it is, wireless devices tend to have inconsistent bandwidth handling. And some wireless devices as suggested, may struggle.

I presume you are running your modem/router in UPnP mode. This is where LW communicates, requests the router to open ports for it. If LW or the device is too busy, this communication can be affected.

Sometimes just closing LW & re-opening can refreshen it if it has been running for a long period.
