![]() I have read over a few posts so far about the disk problem but no fix yet. I have tried a couple of times now to clear off all Limewire files to the trash and then securely empty it. Once that is complete, I try to re-install but this does not work but I get the same problem. I have used Limewire Pro on my Imac for a few weeks now with no problem. Like most others, my external hard drive is not near full yet and has had no other problems. Here is more specific info: Limewire Pro 4.18.8 Java 1.5.0_13 My computer is a Imac. Mac OS X Version 10.5.4 (Leopard) Please let me know if I need to provide more information. Does anyone have an idea of how I can get Limewire working again? Thank you for your help. EA |

![]() Don't miss reading the tip about how to clear your preference files whenever you are 'REINSTALLING' on a Mac. Unlike these Windoze geeks, we don't have the luxury of an 'Un-Installer.' This is unsettling, but well explained. It's a matter of throwing away a folder that is usually hidden from our daily needs, under 'USERS'. Inside this is the OLD LIMEWIRE folder, and the 'Prefs.' -files you so desperately want to throw out in order to reinstall anew. |

![]() Look at this in reverse. In your Applications there was a main folder for the Ap, with 4 items. Deleting these and (ultimately)replacing them does no good at deleting the prefs files. [BTW,on it's way to the trash, "copying" ought to build this script, but it doesn't.] "Users" contains Preferences, which contains the LimeWire folder in question. LAST, {as a matter of pure determination,} you threw out the INCOMPLETE file. This my friend is all I can see to do. The only other files that it uses, and marks as recently changed, are JAVA-type stuff and Apple kernels. Not that this applies to you, but one time I put the System disk [10.3.9] in my drive as if I were attempting to (cringe) re-install, and it fixed a similar problem when I booted-up, although I had done nothing with the disk at all. |

![]() You are a kind and sensible person, thus the pleasure is mine. I just can't think of much else to say to help you. With the latest OS, [known conflcts] you might check the Mac forums. They tend to have good people to help you at both the Experts sites, like OS Rumors, as well as more amateur places like you find linked at Small Dog and 100 Top Mac sites, et. all. |

![]() Limewire Pro just won't run for me Hi. I just purchased Limewire Pro for Mac OS 10.4 after using Limewire Basic for a few weeks. I am a total computer know-nothing (which is why I own a Mac and not a PC) but I usually can troubleshoot apps myself. I am using a G4 imac with the "gooseneck" from the round hard drive base to the monitor, running OSX v10.4.11. It has a 1.25 GHz Power PC and 768 MB DDR SDRAM. When I tried to install Limewire Pro, it said it couldn't finish the installation because I need Java 1.5. I tried upgrading Java, and Tiger wouldn't let me. So I tried installing Leopard on this computer (I have Panther on another imac for old turbotax records which aren't readable by Tiger, and Tiger on another which I don't use for P2P,) and this imac wouldn't let me upgrade to Leopard. The nearest Apple Store is over 140 miles away. I live in the desert in Southern California, and nobody here works on macs. I used Find to locate all Limewire applications, files, Preference folders, Users files, etc. and trashed them and emptied the trash, then reloaded the Pro version and still had the same problem. The Limewire Basic 4.12 with Java 1.42 works okay. I have a satellite internet connection of 512 KBps over the ethernet. Any advice? thanks Monica |

![]() Sounds like you need a specific version of LW, PLUS the matching Java suite. Take that up with Lord of the Rings and i believe you can ace the problem. In this case does the Ap ever launch at all? (Menus at top,) or does it just report: wrong Java? I'm glad you got two macs. I hope you got PhotoShop or some other graphic aps that allow you to fully enjoy them. I'm running this 400Mhz Blue G4 tower because it's fun, but it's nothing compared to mom's iMac in the other room. (Her's has 10.5, but what a drag, no Classic, and here I am still using Freehand 7. PShop 5.5, and Word 4.0, as shareware, circa 1991!) Back on point, only one LW version runs on this OS-X10.3.9: [ LWire 4.12.15 with Java 1.4.2 ] You gotta dig through their older downloads to get it. Perhaps a refund is in order in your case if they don't have a similar older Pro version. Although it's very slow, this free version has more than met my needs. |

LW 4.12 was the one I started with and is the one I went back to. From reading the forum, I'm not the only one having trouble with the new PRO and Tiger. This is 2nd time I tried to post a reply to your reply. Yeah, the reason it's "all macs all the time" in this house is because my husband is a graphic artist/editorial cartoonist/comicbook artist and I have always hated windows. Macs aren't quite the workhorse they used to be. My husband is stubborn and is still using OS 9 with old versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, although I have the CS versions. He just tweaks his art on the computer and adds lettering, preferring to draw everything by hand. thanks again. monica |
