Red face Limewire Pro won't play mp3s in Limewire Player and itunes won't either

I just downloaded Limewire Pro 4.18.8 Pro using Java 1.5.0_16 and have itunes 8.0.1. And my system is running off of Mac OSX 10.5.5.

My main concern right now is why Limewire can't play any mp3s I have downloaded, even right in the Limewire..the Limewire player won't play them. As well as then trying to get them to play in itunes, which won't play them either. I have never had issues in the past with either of them not playing any mp3s. Its not just one mp3, its multiple.

I have searched the forums and have seen a lot of people with the same problem and have posted they have the same problem, but no answers to fix it. Tried the uninstalling, reinstalling programs, didn't do anything. As well as made sure my firewall is allowing access to Limewire, and when opened Limewire made sure it allowed all access.

Does someone have an answer to solve this? Many seem to have the same issue.

I and others would deeply appreciate!

The limewire player is so unreliable, it will work for some and not for others...why!! we don't know as the developers have never given a work around for it....

This might explain to you why itunes is giving you grief...

It's good to know that's the case...at least I'm not the only one! I don't understand why a file shows up in my Limewire playlist, but not in the Library, and does not play.

I'm not to sure about why the file won't show up in your library because I don't know much about Mac's...Give Lord of the rings a pm and see if he has any suggestions for you....

The LW Playlist that shows in iTunes is simply a reflection of what audio files you have in your LW Download folder. However, the files may be duds, corrupt or even pc viruses. Check some of the music topics here MAJOR TOPICS for Upload/Download HELP. Also see the link to junk file sizes.

When you say Library do you mean iTunes Library or the LW Library window? Songs will not be added to iTunes Library unless they are added. Two main ways of adding for mac. One is auto importing which means as soon as you complete downloading a song file, iTunes will open & add the file. You set this in LW preferences under iTunes. The other technique is manual adding of songs. Manual adding of audio files is described here How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link}.

BTW iTunes cannot play WMA, mp3Pro, Ogg Vorbis, or Real files.
